Bookworms, rejoice: Byron Bay Writers Festival is right around the corner!
Next weekend, from 1 to 3 August, book lovers from around the country will again converge on the iconic Byron Bay for one of the country’s leading literary festivals. And, again, Inside History is excited to be attending, as we’re sponsoring a panel with some renowned authors called ‘History: A Work in Progress?’ on Friday 1 August (more details are below).
In even more exciting news, thanks to our friends at the Byron Bay Writers Festival, we’re giving away two 3-day passes (valued at $210) so you and a friend can attend for free!

No less than three authors will gather to discuss all things history at the Inside History sponsored session, ‘History: A Work in Progress?’. The panellists include:
- Clare Wright, winner of the 2014 Stella Prize and author of The Forgotten Rebels of Eureka (For more on Clare and her award-winning work, read our interview with her in the latest issue! Click here for more)
- Mike Carlton, journalist and author of First Victory: 1914 – HMAS Sydney‘s hunt for the German raider Emden
- James Brown, author of Anzac’s Long Shadow, former Australian Army officer and Military Fellow at the Lowy Institute
The panel will be chaired by Russell Eldridge, writer, media consultant and founding committee member of the Byron Bay Writers Festival.
